Through organizations such as the Student Government and the
National Junior Honor Society,
our students have the opportunity to
organize and participate in a variety of community service projects
and student activities that make middle school at the DPHDS an
exciting and purposeful experience. By way of example, students
organize an annual Mitzvah Week each November. During the three
days before Thanksgiving, they hold a food drive, a fundraiser for a
charity chosen by the students, and a day of themed competitive
activities that culminate in a middle school dance. We also host
themed “dress down” days on which goods are collected for charitable
donation to organizations such as We Care and the Joe DiMaggio
Children’s Hospital Center. We especially value days like this,
which give our students the opportunity to have fun as they develop
their leadership skills and become responsible citizens.
